About us

Exams Access Arrangements Assessments has grown out of over 30 years working in education, SEND, specialist assessment and inclusion.

I started my career as a Geography Teacher before moving into SEND and leadership roles, including work as a SENDCo and Senior Leader across schools and colleges.

Over time, my work increasingly focused on understanding need, identifying barriers and making support practical, proportionate and workable in real settings, not just on paper.

That naturally led into specialist assessment work, including Exam Access Arrangements assessments, learning assessments and wider SEND support across schools, colleges and training providers.

Alongside this work, I developed The EAA Assessor, focusing specifically on exam access arrangements, Form 8 processes, evidence, normal way of working and practical implementation.

As the work developed, it broadened beyond assessments alone. Schools, colleges, employers and training providers increasingly wanted support not just around access arrangements, but around systems, implementation, SEND practice, inclusion, workplace adjustments and specialist assessment services more widely.

That led to Inclusion Compass.

The name Compass is a deliberate nod to my background as a Geography Teacher, but it also reflects the wider purpose behind the work, helping organisations, staff and individuals navigate inclusion clearly, practically and with confidence. It reflects a belief that effective inclusion is about more than compliance; it is about understanding need, reducing barriers and creating practical support that works in real settings.

Today, my work includes:

• Exam Access Arrangements assessments
• Support for new JCQ centres
• Form 8 processes, evidence and normal way of working
• Staff training and practical implementation
• Learning assessments and SEND support
• Workplace Needs Assessments for employees and apprentices
• Reasonable adjustments across education and employment settings
• Specialist inclusion and assessment consultancy

This work spans schools, FE colleges, apprenticeship providers, universities, employers and workplace settings.

The approach is simple: clear advice, practical recommendations and support that actually works in classrooms,  colleges and workplaces.

Barry puts the students at ease and checks-in regularly with our team throughout the day. Barry is keen to share his expertise and has given advice and guidance on other aspects of the SENDCo role. I would highly recommend Barry
Kathryn Bridle Exams Officer at Chesterfield High School
Barry is a fantastic asset to have work with our school. His expertise and diligence he displays in his work is second to none. Barry is able to create a natural rapport with students he has just met which is valuable and helps put our students at ease throughout the process of ‘testing’ which they would find stressful otherwise. Barry is also extremely generous with his knowledge and is able to clarify updates and queries accurately and quickly.
